Business Description
Historic upscale deli in the center of Florence
€1.6M Turnover | €400k Ebitda target 2025 | Historical Brand
A luxury grocery store active since 1860 in the historic center of Florence, just steps from the Duomo, recognized by generations of Florentines and now also frequented by a high-spending international clientele.
To understand its positioning, the most immediate comparison is the “Peck of Milan (in Florence)”: a premium outlet where the client enters to purchase selected food products, wines, fresh gastronomy, fresh pasta, Tuscan specialties, sweets, spices, preserves and own-brand products, with a level of quality far removed from large retailers.
The value of the operation is not only in the turnover of the store. Buyer takes over a century-old historical brand, one location iconic, a customers trusted, a network by suppliers built over time and a ready-made platform to develop a premium food brand across multiple channels.
The company operates from a single point of sale of about 300 square meters, with additional 300 square meters of warehouse space, in the heart of the Florentine tourist flow, just a stone's throw from Florence Cathedral.. The clientele consists of approximately 60% from foreigners and for thel 40% from Florentines, including a local high-spending and recurrent band.
Product selection is one of the main distinguishing features: artisan suppliers, Tuscan products, premium cellar, specialties that are hard to find elsewhere, dedicated recipes, and an established private label line. Some products are developed on historical recipes or specifications designed for the brand, making the offering less replicable by a regular retailer.
Over the past few months, the new ownership has embarked on a path of revitalization: renovation of the deli, improved layout, staff training, inclusion of own-brand products, e-commerce development, logistics agreement for international shipments, and first initiatives on the corporate gifting channel.
The most interesting part is that the company is already profitable, but it has not yet been developed on all its true value levers. Today's business lives almost entirely on the physical point of sale. Instead, a structured buyer can turn it into a retail and digital platform.
The levers for growth are very concrete: development of the’international e-commerce, CRM and WhatsApp commerce to tourists and foreign customers already acquired, premium bundle, seasonal preorders, private label High-margin, corporate baskets, partnership with lux hotels and hospitalityo, corners in airports and department stores, new outlets in high-demand tourist cities.
The channel corporate gifting is still untapped, but already tested with significant corporate orders. Private label has about 50 products and can become a major source of margins, with potentially higher margins than reselling third-party products.
E-commerce should not be read as simply an online sales site, but as an extension of the premium customer relationship: tourists entering Florence can be reactivated months later with seasonal products, truffles, wines, sweets, gift bundles, and branded specialties, shipped to Italy and abroad.
Operational management is already delegated to a store manager. Current ownership mainly follows finance and investment, so the business does not depend on the day-to-day presence of the seller. This makes the transition easier than in many owner-dependent retail businesses.
For a premium food, hospitality, luxury, retail group or a family office interested in historic Italian brands, the opportunity is clear: acquire an authentic brand with over 160 years of history, already positioned in one of the world's most visited cities, and develop it on channels that are only partially activated today.
